West London Friends of the Earth

The habitats for wildlife in west London are many and varied. Some are fairly obvious, such as woodlands and ponds, and would be recognised as important everyhwere in the country. But others, such as allotments or land beside railways, are of particular importance in urban areas such as West London, where the areas of more natural habitat are very limited.

There are now formal plans called 'Habitat Action Plans' or HAPs to protect some of these habitats. These plans are a major component of 'Biodiversity Action Plans' which are now in place for many parts of the country, including west London.
