West London Friends of the Earth

Links

This page gives a number of links to external sites which are of general interest, giving further information and more links. Many more links, on particular issues, are also given on other pages in this site.

Rather than just give a list of links, we give a brief indication of the subject and scope of the site. It is divided into various subjects for your convenience.

General environment

Friends of the Earth  FOE is the largest environmental organisation in the UK and covers the widest range of issues. It has a network of local groups across the country. For groups in West London see our local groups page. For other groups see the national site.

For environmental science, try the Science Directory or surf the web.

Aviation

Aviation Environment Federation  The AEF is the only organisation in the UK that is primarily concerned with the environmental effects of air transport.

Airport Watch  A new site set up on behalf of a number of major environmental groups including FOE, Transport 2000, RSPB (Royal Society for the protection of birds), CPRE (Council for the Preservation of Rural England) and the NSCA (National Society for Clean Air). As well as national issues it contains links to many local airport groups.

Green Skies  A network for groups in Europe and beyond who are concerned about the impact of air transport.

Other issues

For links on other environmental issues, see our campaign pages or visit the national FOE web site.

There are of course references to environmental issues in many newspapers and publications in West London. An example is the community website in Richmond.

Political parties in West London

Two political parties have contacted us and asked that we link to them:

Green Party (The national web site.)
Brent Socialist Alliance (Select "environment" on left hand side.)

In the interest of fairness we invited the other political parties to provide links.

After a month the LibDems contacted us and said they had no local site.
After two months the Labour Party responded with a national site. It is interesting to see that they claim they are creating more Green Belt. They are certainly destroying it round Heathrow!
